Here are the best CVS deals and coupon matchups I see for the week of 1/1/12

What to know at CVS

If you’re new to CVS, ECB stands for “Extra (Care) Bucks.” Here’s what to remember:

1. Unlike Walgreens RR, ECB are store coupons and can only be used at CVS. They are also tied to your particular CVS card, so if you get an ECB or store coupon that prints out at the price scanner or register, it will only work for your card.
2. Always scan your card at their in-store price scanner, because bonus coupons print out there when you do so. Keep scanning until it says no coupons available, because sometimes it prints more than one set.
3. Sign up for their ExtraCare emails with your card number and you’ll get a bonus $4.00/$20.00 printable coupon, plus random emailed coupons throughout the year. The $4.00/$20.00 and other $/$$ coupons can be used before any other coupons.
4. Buy yourself a green bag tag for $.99. Attach it to your reusable bag. Every fourth shopping trip that they scan your tag, you get a bonus $1.00 ECB. (Note: you’ll only get the credit for one trip per card per day.)
5. ECB always roll, meaning you can use them on any other ECB-generating item and they’ll still generate new ECB.
