Things to know at Jewel
Just a few…
- Check your Avenu before you go. Avenu e-coupons load onto your card when you view the page, and come off automatically at the register when you buy qualifying items. If your Avenu item is part of a Catalina deal, the pre-e-coupon price counts towards the Catalina.
- Also load SavingStar “electronic coupons,” which rebate back into your SavingStar account rather than coming off at the register.
- You’ll also want to read this on the latest Jewel Catalinas change, if you’ve been doing them there for a while.
- Here’s the official Jewel-Osco coupon policy from September 2011.

hmmm, I wonder if the iTunes catalina deals would stack together?? If you bought $100 dollars worth, would you get the $20 and also a $5 OYNO (for buying over $30?)
duh, I just saw: the iTunes catalinas run different dates…LOL
Also, as I was telling someone else, a great way to get the new Kindle Fire cheaper would be to buy the Amazon GCs at Jewel, then have $40 to spend on groceries. So, it’s like you are getting it for $160! Although, the way they are doing it this time sucks…only one per day, and only able to redeem one per day?
I wonder if you could also use GCs to pay for Prime Membership??
Pam,
According to amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=518224) you can’t use gift cards to pay for a prime membership, unfortunately. Does anyone know if Jewel actually sells the amazon gift cards? According to amazon’s own page, they are not available in bricks and mortar stores in IL even though Jewel is on their list of retailers.
David:
I am not sure if they sell them at Jewel anymore…but could have sworn within the last year that I did see them there next to the Ebay GCs.
Today I was at Dominick’s looking at the GCs, and the employee next to me said they no longer carry Amazon, but use to. She said they really don’t control the inventory of what ones they carry, so wasn’t sure why they no longer carry it.
So, I am wondering if it is the same at Jewel. But, according to the Jewel ad, Amazon is one that is participating in the promotion.
I noticed that the new flier for Valli has a coupon for $3/2 Oscar Mayer bacon.
Would make the bacon $4.19 for 2, a pretty good deal!
That’s great! I used to get the valli ad but it stopped coming most weeks. Now instead they send food 4 less, which I’m nowhere near, lol.
My IGA hs a man Q for $10.00 when you buy 12 kraft items listed. Can I use this at Jewel on top of the buy 10 and save? I am not seeing why I couldn’t, but thought I would try to verify. Leaving at 3:00 for turkeys at Jewel is someone can help with this before 3?
Yes — as long as it is a manufacturer coupon and has a barcode and redemption address and says mfr coupon, they will take the coupons out of other store’s ads.
so in order to use the $10 off a turkey with a $25 purchase, is the $25 purchase before or after coupons?
Before coupons.
The coupon for $10 off the turkey says on it “must meet min purchase AFTER all other valid coupon redemptions and customer card discounts”. So if we did the $5/$25 then we’d actually have to purchase $30 total after all other coupons to use the $5/25, and get the turkey deal??
Their coupons always say that. If you look at the $5/$25 or any other $/$$ they always say that. Stores do not enforce that in all my years of shopping Jewel
.
On the 7.99 Maxwell House listed about… (is that a can?)…starting on Nov 20th the Maxwell House 34.5 oz Wake Up Roast goes on sale for 5.50 a can.
I’ve used this before and it’s not terrible. Of course, not Folgers..but good price nonetheless.
Hey Rachel, for the idahoan coupon..do we have to enter the contest and all? I don’t see a place on there to click to print the q. Really don’t feel like doing all that work for a box of free potatoes. TIA
You don’t even have to put anything on the potato. Just save the image and then you’ll get the link to print the coupon.
not working for me? I hate jumping through hoops for a Q
OK, try save and enter contest, then close out the facebook window and go back to the potato head page, you shoudl have a box for email. Put something in there and then you can print the coupon.
Hmmm…they must have fixed the download for the $5 off $25 coupon because it wouldn’t let me print it (said I had already registered). So, I used my work email. Oddly enough it asked for my address again (and I did my regular home address). It let me print it once.
That’s weird — it didn’t even ask me for a street address.
It wouldn’t let me print either.
If I buy the Edys Bogo will it count as 2 items?
you mean toward the $5 for the turkey Catalina? It should — because it says X number of items, not dollar amount.
Does anyone know how much the Stouffer’s lasagnas are?
Was just there and you have to buy the 38 or 40oz. they are 7.99 at my store. I got the smaller ones, which I didnt realize that were only $4.99 each, I was looking at the wrong tag, but the $3.00 coupons went through so I didnt even notice til I looked at my receipt, but the Cat didnt print out and went to customer service and they said it was the bigger size. She was SUPER nice and gave me the Cat anyway, but dont goof like me and buy the right one!
Hi Rachel,
This is off topic ,but I was wondering if anyone has received the 2 Jewel GC from the chicago Tribune with the deal you posted a few weeks back. I believe the contact name was Michael? I started receiving my papper 3-4 weeks ago, but no GC yet? Would you be able to post his name and phone number again?
Tnx for all the great help and work u do.
Hi Rachel,
I was wondering if anyone has received the 2 GC for Jewel from te last deal subscription for Chicago Tribune you posted. I started receiving the papper 3-4 weeks ago. But as of now no GC’s yet.I was wondering if you could post his name and phone number again? I believe the contact name was Michael???
Tnx
Here’s the original post http://www.mashupmom.com/2011/10/11/chicago-tribune-make-money-subscribing-after-jewel-gift-card/ I’d give him a call!
I bought 4 Pepperidge Farm stuffings today for $2.50 each (and used a $2.00/4 coupon that I found in a booklet at Ultra Foods) and got an automatic discount of $2.49. I’m excited because $5.51 is a good price for 4 Pepperidge Farm stuffings…the regular price for 1 was $3.79.
Found a $1 of one Sara Lee desserts in the 10/23 RP
Quick question. I bought a butterball turkey today and 4 packages of nestles chocolate chips, according to their ad I should have gotten $5 back oyno, but I didn’t receive a cat. I didn’t realize until I got home that the cat didn’t print. Is it worth going to customer service? Will they give me a coupon? I probably won’t be able to get back to the Jewel until Monday. I live in the city and went to a jewel a little further away because it is bigger. Anyone have experience with cat not printing? How did you handle it..especially if you already left the store. Or am I out of luck at this point?
Call Catalina — 1-888-8COUPON. You need to wait til the next day so your receipt is in the system, and I don’t think they’re there on Sun, so try Monday.
Speaking of a Catalina not printing, is there a deadline on when you can call 1-888-COUPON regarding an incident. I remember your post about getting your Degree Catalina that did not print at Ultra but I thought it was too late to call them since it was about 4 weeks later. Was I wrong? If not, I’ll go after my $4 Cat
Thanks.:)
I honestly don’t know, I’ve never waited more than a few days — Wasn’t the degree thing back in August??
It was a while back. Since the Degree was free with coupons, I foolishly let it go and didn’t think to call 888-COUPON since the cat was not printing at any Ultra for the $1 Degree that we all bought. However, I was just wondering if there was a deadline for future reference. Thanks
Aren’t Blue Bonnet sticks are listed as 10 for $10?…. check you email for coupons. I got a $1/3 Blue Bonnet products good until the 25th.
Does it matter what order you hand over the coupons? Should you do the $10 turkey one first or the 5/$25?
I went today and gave the $10 turkey and then the $5.00/$25.00 but it shouldn’t matter, as long as you’re over $25 pre-turkey.
I came to verify if it had to be $25 pre-tukey, so thanks for your comment
I don’t see $25 worth of groceries that I like this week. Need to plan.
Quick ? : Would you say its worth it to buy a chest freezer? I had to pass on the Zaycon chicken, stockpiling Doms milk, cheap seasonal veggies&berries etc due to no freezer space. I’ve seen one at HD for $168 and am considering it. Thanks
I can’t imagine not having one. We have the 7 cubic foot one from Home Depot – I think it was around what you quoted. We didn’t shop around too much because this was pre-coupon and we bought it mostly for another reason. But now it is FULL of great stuff!
Thanks
The sales this week have been awful. I had a horrible time trying to find $25 worth of stuff to buy that I would use and have coupons for. Sales have been terrible lately period. Or am I missing something? LOL!
No, it’s bad. To help get up to $25 today, I got idahoan potatoes (free after the coupon), kikkoman panko (for the catalina deal), manischewitz broth ($1.50 with $1.00 printable), spice islands thyme (half price, 3.50, and it had a $1.00 hangtag for $1.00 off meat wyb spice islands that I used toward the turkey), the president brie ($3.99 with the $2.50 printable).
my Jewel (my alternate Jewel, I guess…not my favorite one…) just told me that they can’t include the amazon gift cards in the $20 wyb $100 promotion because the State of IL forbids it…something about the sales tax. I know IL and Amazon have a rocky history (which is why I don’t bother with affiliate links in my blog any more). But is it true on the gift cards? or should I check my favorite Jewel?
I think you missed the discussion on another post — it’s true, Amazon gift cards are not sold in IL. I don’t think it’s the sales tax thing, because they are sold in other states that have a similar law, but…
darn. that was the only gift card that sounded good to me. Oh well. Thanks for the info!
I have a question regarding the gift card promo. Does anyone know if you can really purchase two $100 cards in the same day with your Jewel Preferred Card (at separate time of course). Is the system really that sophisticated that it wouldn’t allow you to do so even though the fine print says one purchase a day? We are buying an appliance at Lowes tonight and have a $25 off $250 from lowes that expires tonight so I want to double up and use Lowes GC also. Otherwise I would just purchase more GC’s again tommorow.
I meant to say purchase two GC’s in one day and still get the $20 grocery coupon to print.
Yes, you can. Separate transactions — but you can only redeem one of the $20 Catalinas per transaction (it says per customer per day).
Thank you Rachel. I got my refrigerator for basically $100 less because of this deal – yeah!
Rachel,
I was wondering…..where did you get the dates for the Jewel $20 cat if you purchase $100 worth of gift cards. I went today, went to cs after the catalina did not print and was told the promotion was over. They showed me the ad that said through Nov. 26th. I had a friend go there yesterday (the 27th) and it printed for her…I am just trying to find the dates in writing to try to get my $20 cat.
Thanks for your help!
Kim
Originally several people got the alert print out at checkout and sent it in. It’s also listed on Couponerswanted.com with the dates above. I don’t remember which ad it was in with a longer date, sorry! You can also try catalina tomorrow 1-888-8COUPON.
